About Coup D`etat
The Who, Why, What, and When's of Coup D`etat: Coup D`etat (CD) was formed in July of 2005 as a guild that would adhere to 2 major concepts; That raiding need not be a full time job in order to progress, and that all members should have input into the guild's policies. Throughout CD's existance, we have seen that it IS possible to progress in EQ, while still maintaining a life outside of the game. Raiding every other day, we have worked our way into Tacvi, Anguish, and beyond! On any given raid night you might find us farming the aforementioned or other targets, pushing our way past DoD, PoR, or TSS targets, or getting epic fights for our members completed. Repeatedly, we have shown that we can defeat content with a smaller raid force due to excellent strats and the ability to work together as a team. With many of CD's founders having come from other guilds where leadership set forth all the rules without debate, tells to officers went unanswered, new members felt isolated and neglected, old members felt taken for granted, and deceit and favoritism was common, it seemed obvious that there had to be a better way of doing things. CD strongly values member input and we welcome civil debate on the pros and cons of any given policy. We have often in the past reviewed and/or made changes to guild policies due to member input. While we may not always agree with one another, we do agree that having the freedom to communicate and express ourselves is part of what makes CD so unique. We try very hard to be prompt in response to any concerns or problems that arise. We realize that the leaders do not make up the guild, the members do. We do not believe in a raid atmosphere where members are talked down to, cursed at, or called out. People make mistakes and we play this game to have a good time, not to be treated like cattle or children. Coup D`etat is very much a guild lead by, and for adults. Guild chat is frequently of an adult nature, and we expect that our members will not be easily offended by what is said there. We want members to feel free to joke around and have a good time in the game without feeling like every word they say is being watched for offense.

Raid Days ~ Every other day Raid Times ~ 8 EST Bots ~ You may bring ONE bot character along on raids assuming there's room, so long as it doesn't interfere with your ability to play your main character properly in a raiding environment. Bots receive DKP just like any other character, but they may never win out over guilded mains. Loot ~ Loot is done via a DKP system with a slight modifier for attendance. Applicants ~ Applicants are invited into the guild for a period of 3 weeks, at which time they are put up for a vote to attain full membership. Applicants are encouraged to go in on upgrades during their app period, but will not win against full members. During the app period a 50% attendance rate is required. If you come from a smaller guild and would like to see more of EQ and watch your character grow, or if you are tired of letting raid schedules run your life, CD just might be the place for you...
